Palazzo Lavaca is one of Austin’s most unique treasures. Upon entering the tremendous antique double sets of doors, it seems you have been transported to an old-world Italian palace. The grand space, complete with 15’ coffered ceilings, lush velvet curtains and a breathtaking chandelier, drips with luxurious antiques and exquisite artwork.

The Grand Room boasts a dining room table for 10 as well as a parlour entertaining area. The Kitchen, while keeping its antique charm, possesses state-of-the-art appliances including a six burner gas stove and side by side refrigerator/freezer.

Palazzo Lavaca’s pièce de résistance is the Master Suite where guests will melt into the lavishness of their surroundings. It features a huge Marie Antoinette mirrored bathroom with imported marble, an antique claw-foot soaking tub and a large marble shower.

Palazzo Lavaca was built by the Masons in 1890 as Fire House Protection No. 2 where it housed the fire fighters and horse-drawn fire trucks. In the 1940′s it was purchased by the celebrated ranching and rodeo family, the Steiners of Steiner Ranch.
It was soon transformed into the family’s leather factory, Capitol Saddlery and Boots where Sears and Roebuck’s saddles were fabricated. It was also the home of one of the world’s most well known boot makers; gangsters, movie stars and musicians clamored to Austin to have Charlie Dunn make their boots.
The current owner has breathed new life into the building that had begun to lose it luster, with a two year remodel fashioned after the opulence of New York style lofts and Europe’s classical boutique hotels. It is now in its most alluring, artistic and magical incarnation yet. Palazzo Lavaca is a wholly unique space drenched in history and romance and punctuated with a designer’s eye for detail and storytelling.
